Alder Brook Sportsmen’s Association (ABSA) is affiliated with IDPA and will be offering organized practices and Club level matches. For details on rules and safety, check out the web page: Home – International Defensive Pistol Association The Club’s IDPA league offers a low-cost way to practice and improve pistol skills and concealed carry situations. Instruction will be provided to shooters new to IDPA during practices and club matches. Practice participants should have a good foundation of pistol handling and safety. Equipment required: pistol suitable to carry for personal protection, belt mounted holster, magazines-ammunition carriers, 100 rounds. If you are new to IDPA shooting, plan arriving 15 minutes early to talk to the Safety Officer in charge of the range.
New Shooters interested in attending practice or league matches, please contact League manager by email to answer any questions you have. The requirements for attending are that you can safely handle a pistol drawing from a holster or Pistol Caliber Carbine starting at a low ready position.
Weekly Practices start: Tuesday, Mid- April (500 – 7300 pm) and continue through the season until Tuesday, Late October. We have chosen to do introduction to IDPA shooting as a process we do during practices and our monthly Sunday-Weekend Match-Events. Club Matches are an all-day event that all participants help setup, 5 Course of Fire Stages with Scenario and shooting Standards on Sundays 9;30 am to 12:30 pm: then we break for lunch and start shooting at 1 pm the event usually requires 120-150 rounds of ammo and we cleanup around 3-3;30pm.
